N: He alternates between overconfidence and despair a lot.
D: It’s a good thing that I have your tough love to keep me on track.
Okay so that picture of the Sparty Ladies in white dresses? I have a lot of complicated and half formed thoughts about different Roman death related dieties and how they relate to them after they die, and it doesn’t really work with my planned Afterlife fic, and it doesn’t really work as fic in general, because not really a plot, but urgh, so many thoughts and feels. Because I have a lot of Spartacus characters = dieties or mythological concepts feels in general, and I dont know where my mind is going.
Things that are brilliant and excellent and good.
And Jan! Did you know re: the Naevia-as-Mors thing, I wrote fic for this ages ago? (It’s more Naevia-as-Hades, but I didn’t want to specify because of parallel religions but it works for Thanatos/Mors, as well.)
I didn’t know that! Urgh, Awesomeness. I have a lot of feels about Naevia as a Goddess of Death, this were only a couple of them, and there should totally be more fic for it because YES. YES YES YES.
Although to be honest, I might be a little tempted by my Aurelia headcanon as well. Because Vengeance. I need more of it.
And then I haven’t touched upon Kore or Laeta, who deserve a season titled Vengeance after WotD just for them, and just someone needs to write me the fic where Kore is a vengeful spirit who plans and causes and rejoices in Crassus’ demise.
I have bloodlust.
There was that thought a while back about Kore, Laeta, and Sybil as the Moirai - the symbolism of three, and the yellow and red and blue. I could see the Underworld claiming one of them back to restore balance. So with the power of life and death, instead of plotting Crassus’ violent death, she waits. She holds the very string of his life in her hands. Years pass. Still she waits, until such a time that his fame has long-since waned, and his achievements no longer matter. She lets him die - violently, yes - but in disgrace and out of favor, a fate she knows would hurt him more than a thousand spears.
Diana, the Goddess of the Hunt… striking enemies from afar.
I have so many feelings about Mira striking the first blow, about Mira starting the fire. She made the first kill, dressed in the red and white, the colors of blood and death. There would have been no rebellion if not for Mira.

“They said, “No, we’re going to go for this, we’re going to be true, and we’re going to throw ourselves into this as wholeheartedly as we can.” They just went for it, and I thought it was so beautiful. I have a part where I shuffle my foot as I walk in to indicate that I’m there, and then they look up and see me. Well, on the first take we did it, everything was fine, and then I have this epiphany. So, the scene starts, and they start making out—making out hot and heavy, looking hot as hell—as you could tell, since that was the take that was used—and I very quietly tiptoe in. I think they made out for an extra 45 seconds to a minute. (laughter)
Finally, they think, “You know, this is going on for a really long time.” So Dan looks up and he sees that I’m there, and so I smile with a genuine, “Ha ha, got you,” and so the entire scene afterward with the two of them was the genuine giggles with the two of them being embarrassed and caught. It was such a beautiful scene and a lot of fun to do. I bought them a six-pack afterwards, but they were so good about it. The way they embrace their roles is just beautiful because they have no prejudice towards it, and that’s great.”

2/∞ reasons to watch Spartacus (in no particular order, of course):
Smart, well-written and complex female characters.

spartacus au » {agron/nasir}
Captured one day while separated from his family, Agron is sold into Roman slavery as a young boy. He spends only a brief time at Titus’ ludus before he’s given as a parting gift to a wealthy Syrian family traveling home to Damascus. Agron longs to escape to his native land, but he finds these Syrians to be kind people, his dominus’ son, Nasir, the most beguiling and lovely of them all. As the years pass the more difficult the prospect of leaving behind Nasir becomes. Freedom or love? Agron fears whatever he chooses will surely rip him in two.
